The result is that the name reflects the true username and computername. For example, guyt (username)-Vista Ultimate (computername). Keep in mind, as opposed to cheap-shot where you just rename the PC, this council dynamically adjusts the name of each user who connects.

The mission is to find a class identifier (CLSID) in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, and then change the value of LocalizedString ‘Computer’ to a variable that reflects the user connects to this team.

Launch Regedit

1. Precaution: Rename the existing value:
Locate with regedit HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\
{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} rename LocalizedString to LocalizedString.Old LocalizedString %username% at %computername%

2. Create a new VALUE. Note type should be Expanded String Value. Name it: LocalizedString

3. Edit the ‘Value data’. I double click LocalizedString, then click in the dialog box and type: %Username% at %Computername%

Incidentally, you could choose more creative words in place of ‘at’. For example, ‘King of’ or ‘Queen of’.

4. The pictures below will show you what each part of the guitar
is called.

Before you begin playing, you must also know how the frets and strings
are numbered (See Figure Below). The strings are numbered from the lightest
(thinnest) to the heaviest (thickest). So the thinnest string is the first
string, and the thickest is the 6th string. A guitar in standard tuning
is tuned to E-A-D-G-B-E. This shows the 6th string to the 1st string. In
other words. 6th string - Low E, 5th string -A , 4th -D, 3rd -G, 2nd -B,
1st -High E. Look at the diagram to find out how the frets are numbered.
Note: The 0 fret is also the open note on each string.

<!--

Wouldn't it be nice to see an evening landscape when it's dark out and a bright meadow during the afternoon? Let's see how this is done!

Above is an swf example of the 'animation' we are aiming for. Obviously, the background should only change as time progresses, but I just wanted to give you an idea of what the end product would be like in summation.

The trickiest part of this project is creating the effects that corresponding to sunrise and sunset; the actionscript is incredibly simple and you have probably seen it already. In this tutorial we are aiming for mountain scape, where the dynamic components are the sun, moon and sky colour.

Therefore, we first need to create 3 graphic symbols that correspond to the sun moon and sky. Since we will need to change the colour of these symbols using the Color properties, we will create these symbols with a white fill. When creating your graphics, try to center them onto the crosshair using the Align tool. That way, it will be easier to select the appropriate colour tween. The sky will just be a white rectangle, the sun a circle, and the moon a will be a yellow crescent. Because I felt the moon is generally a static colour, I decided to keep it one colour. The others may change colours, so I felt it would be easier to keep them white and apply a tint later:

Next, we create a new movieclip that will house the entire 24 hour animation. The easiest way to create this animation is to have the frame length set at 24 frames, but I feel that it would be pretty choppy, so in this tutorial, we are creating a 48 frame animation. The frame numbers will correspond to:

Frame 1 (Midnight)
Frame 20 (10:00 am)
Frame 30 (3 pm)
Frame 48 (11:59pm)

We will need 4 layers:

TOP
1) Foreground (we will use a mountain scape)
Motion Guide (todirect the motion tween of sun and moon)
2) Sun (will contain the sun animation)
3) Moon (will contain the moon animiation)
4) Background (this will contain the sky)
BOTTOM

Here is the overview of the movieclip timeline. You can refer to this later:

We will go through each layer individually.

Foreground:
This will be the top most layer and will be the graphic you would like to display in the forefront of the landscape. This can be anything to your liking such as trees, houses, buildings. For this example, we use a mountain range. Be sure not to cover up the whole stage, or else you will not be able to see the background sky change colours. Don't mind the other layers on the picture below:

Background:
The background will contain the sky graphic symbol undergoing a motion tween (colour change).
First off, we need to determine the appropriate colours of the sky at various times of day while keeping in mind that there are 48 frames to represent 24 hours in the day. Here is what I chose. This is a very plain and vague colour scheme which can be definitely improved upon.

Frame 1 (Midnight): #000000 (will look like #353535)
Frame 20 (10:00 am): #4CA3FA (will look like #71B6FB)
Frame 30 (3 pm): #4CA3FA (will look like #71B6FB)
Frame 48 (11:00pm): #000000 (will look like #353535)

*IMPORTANT: Remember that our original sky symbol was white! This means that the symbol will appear a few shades lighter when you add the tint. The tint colour will not be equivalent to what is shown in the symbol!

To apply these colour changes, first create keyframes on frames 1,20, 30 and 48, and apply a motion tween between them. Then select the keyframe and symbol, then select Color: Tint at the bottom properties menu. I chose Tint over Advanced because I can use the dropper tool to select the appropriate colour instead of guessing the RGB values.

Sun and Moon Layers:
These layers will use the same concepts as the sky colour change tweens except we add one more dimension: a motion tween guide. A motion tween guide lets the user designate a path for the symbol to travel while it is undergoing a motion tween. This is appropriate for the sun and moon animations because sunrise and sunsets have a curved path, not straight!

First create the two layers that house the Sun and Moon symbols. Next, right click the sun layer and select Add Motion Guide... This will create a new pseudo layer which will be the parent for the Sun. Next, move the Moon layer upwards so that it becomes under the Motion Guide as well. We put them in the same guide because for simplicity, they will rise and fall in the same path. (Look at the MovieClip Timeline picture)

After this is complete we have to start creating the path for the moon and sun to travel on. Selecting the Motion Guide layer, choose the line tool and roughly draw out a curve for which you want the sun/moon to follow. Now, remember that during the day, the moon doesn't need to be on stage, and during the night, the sun doesn't need to be on stage.

Recall our scheme:
Frame 1 (Midnight)
Frame 20 (10:00 am)
Frame 30 (3 pm)
Frame 48 (11:59pm)

I decided the sun should rise at around 7/8ish am; this corresponds to around Frame 16. So, select the sun layer: Frame 16 and place the sun on the stage such that the crosshair is centered on one part of the curve you drew in the motion guide. Now, create a keyframe at frame 25; this corresponds to around 12 noon, so now, move the sun so that the cross hair is at the top of the curve. Now, create a keyframe at frame 35, and move the sun so that its the right most side of the curve.

Now, you can select each keyframe (16, 25, 35) and change the colour properties of the sun: it is more orange during sunrise and sunset and more yellow during high noon. Fiddle around with the tint tool to get the best colour. You can see what I did in the above diagram.

Now, we can repeat the same steps for the moon layer. But remember that because the moon rises at night, the motion tween will begin at the ENDS of the timeline. Make sure that the moon is placed in the exact same place at Frame 1 and 48, so it can be continuous.

The Main Timeline:

Now, place your created movie clip in the main timeline on frame 1. Select your movieclip, and give it the variable name: background. Create a keyframe at frame 6.

Right click Frame 1, add the following actionscript:

//this will get the current time and convert it to a number between 1 and 48.
/:theHour=FSCommand2("GetTimeHours") * 2;
/:theMinutes=FSCommand2("GetTimeMinutes");
/:hourFraction = Math.round((/:theMinutes/60) * 2);
tellTarget("background"){
gotoAndStop(/:theHour+/:hourFraction+1);
}

Right click Frame 6, add the following actionscript:

gotoAndPlay(1);

There you have it! Now compile and test it out! The movie will check the time every 6 frames and update the movieclip to reflect this. So in a sense, it seems continuous on the viewer's perspective. You can test this easily by previewing on computer, and changing your system's clock, and see the flash file update the background automatically!

EXTRA TIP: If you want the animation to seem more realistic, you can use motion tween easing for the movement of the sun and moon, so that it slows the most when it reaches the peak of the curve.
<!--

Simply put, preloaders are custom-built indicators that inform the viewer that content is being loaded into the Flash player. As easy as they sound implement, creating one that works effectively and correctly can often be a quite frustrating task. This tutorial should help explain the ins and outs of preloaders and help you be better equipped to deal with them on your own.
Basic Kinds of Preloaders

There are generally two kinds of preloaders:

1. Preloaders that load the main, current Flash movie and
2. Preloaders that load additional, external content within an already loaded main movie

When loading the main movie, you are using a preloader that exists within the same movie that you are attempting to load. Because of this, these kinds of preloaders should be (in terms of file size) as small as possible since the preloader itself has to load prior to the rest of the movie before it can even start to function.

When loading external content, such as other Flash movies (swf files) or images, preloader size isn't as important. This is because the preloader for that external content does not exist within the content. Instead, it exists within the current Flash movie which should already be completely loaded, preloader and all.

The complexity of a preloader can range anywhere from a simple, static waiting message to a dynamically updated animation that reflects the status of the content loaded. The difficulty of implementing a preloader obviously increases with complexity. Preloader progress bars are the most common form of preloaders which show a progression bar that displays how much content has been loaded visually.

More info >>
<!--

The circle is the foundation of the head for any veiwpoint. It doesn't need to be a perfect circle like this. A basic ovoid shape will do nicely.

Step 2 Make the chin

Add the chin. The chin will come down from the center point of the outside edge of the circle to about half that length below the bottom edge of the circle. The Jawline should come back towards the center of the bottom edge of the circle as shown here.

Step 3 Make Facial Divisions

Split the face shape in half vertically and horizontally. These axis lines are the ear line (vertical) and the eyeline (horizontal).

Step 4 Make More Divisions

Divide the space between the eyeline and the chin in half. This is the "Bottom of the Ear and Nose" line. Divide the space below the noseline into 3rds. the upper 3rd is the Mouth line.

Notice the ear sits in the verticle axis toward the back of the head and rest between the nose line and the brow line.

Step 5 Make the eye

Divide the space between the front of the head and the vertical earline axis. This is where we place the eye on the eyeline. The outside corner of the eye should hit this new division line and the inside corner should be just inside of the outer edge of the mouth.

Step 6 Make Hair Line

The Hairline is located by drawing a 45 degree angle from the intersection of the horizontal eye line and the vertical ear line.

source
<!--

Linear paths make for lifeless animation. This tutorial will demonstrate a few ways to apply some of the Principles of Animation, into your Flash projects.

Anticipation and Follow Through
Naturally, before an object with awareness moves forward, it anticipates the motion, by moving backwards slightly, first. After finishing the forward action, it doesn't completely come to a stop all of the sudden- it pulls back a little bit. This should be especially apparent if the action doesn't ease out.

Raise you hand to eye level and hold it still. Now deeply relax the bones in your hands, and then casually move it about one foot to the side. Watch closely the anticipation and follow through motions which naturally occur.

To create a gross cartoony effect, every sweeping motion without obvious easing should have a contrasting action at it's beginning and end.

If you play Ball #1 you can see that it is on a linear path. It just goes straight to the end point, at the same speed all the way there.

Although the motions are subtle, Ball #2 pulls back momentarily, before easing ahead. At the end, it bounces a bit. This creates a more natural, and interesting animation.

To apply these effects in Flash, first animate the main path you want an object to follow, and enable Motion Tweening.

Next, add new keyframes (F6) a few frames after the begginning frame, and a few frames before the last frame.

On the second keyframe (frame 3), move the object behind it's original position. On the third keyframe (frame 18), position the object farther than the end destination.

source
<!--

You just finished your first wonderful and beautiful Flash animation. You put all your love, blood, and guts into it, and it shows. The stylish design is top notch, the dialogue between the characters is witty, and your amateur voice actors (bribed into service with promises of back rubs and marzipan) sound surprisingly well studied.

You're poised to submit this award-tempting piece to Animation Express, however, when you notice that something looks wrong. The star of the animation, the "Walking Across the Living Room" guy, is supposed to look hilarious. And he does ... but for all the wrong reasons. You spent so much time working through the little details — the big stomach flapping around, the little hand scratching that huge butt. But it still doesn't feel quite right, somehow. He doesn't really walk. Rather, he slides, hops, and jerks all over the carpet. Drat! Curses! And so on! Well, the important thing to remember is: Don't panic.

Making a character's walk look realistic is a long-lost, and long-cherished, secret of animation. There's no magic button to push, sadly, but the steps can be broken down into easily digestible bites that are easy to understand and recreate. And that's just what this tutorial is going to show you how to do.

In the pages that follow, I will show you how to build a simple walk cycle using an example character that I've kept fairly basic — with no detail or extreme style to distract you, applying the principles you learn here to your own designs later will be effortless. Once you've mastered this basic walk, then you can give your character some added personality with exaggerated positions, or different speeds, or crazy walks.

I've provided in-depth instructions as well as screen shots to illustrate the progression of steps. For those of you who wish to follow along — and I recommend that you do — you can start by downloading the FLA source file. (NOTE: To download the file on a PC, right-click and choose "Save As ..." and on a Macintosh, hold down the mouse button and choose to save the file on a local drive.)

Now let's get moving.
<!--

When developing locally this URL will be something like http://localhost/hello.php or http://127.0.0.1/hello.php but this depends on the web server's configuration. If everything is configured correctly, this file will be parsed by PHP and the following output will be sent to your browser:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_q2gs2_tCfcI/R1wb2B_JJYI/AAAAAAAAA34/FyJ8Gkh8PzY/s320/2.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142015489610425730" />

This program is extremely simple and you really did not need to use PHP to create a page like this. All it does is display: Hello World using the PHP echo() statement. Note that the file does not need to be executable or special in any way. The server finds out that this file needs to be interpreted by PHP because you used the ".php" extension, which the server is configured to pass on to PHP. Think of this as a normal HTML file which happens to have a set of special tags available to you that do a lot of interesting things.

If you tried this example and it did not output anything, it prompted for download, or you see the whole file as text, chances are that the server you are on does not have PHP enabled, or is not configured properly. Ask your administrator to enable it for you using the Installation chapter of the manual. If you are developing locally, also read the installation chapter to make sure everything is configured properly. Make sure that you access the file via http with the server providing you the output. If you just call up the file from your file system, then it will not be parsed by PHP. If the problems persist anyway, do not hesitate to use one of the many » PHP support options.

The point of the example is to show the special PHP tag format. In this example we used <?php to indicate the start of a PHP tag. Then we put the PHP statement and left PHP mode by adding the closing tag, ?>. You may jump in and out of PHP mode in an HTML file like this anywhere you want. For more details, read the manual section on the basic PHP syntax.

Source
<!--

The .fla file also included at the end of the tutorial.
Please note:
1. You need to have Flash Player 7.0 installed to view the Flash animation.
2. Flash MX 2004 or higher must be installed in your system to download the .fla file.
STEPS TO FOLLOW

Create a Graphic Symbol.

* Import an image to your work area upon which you would like to create ripple effect.
* Press F8, to convert this image to a symbol.
* Name this Symbol "girl_gr" and choose graphic behavior. Press OK.
* Name this Layer "bg".
* Select girl_gr and choose Alpha 99% from color list box in your property window.

Create a Movie clip.

* Press Ctrl+F8, to create Ripple movie clip.
* Name this symbol "ripple_mc" and choose Movie clip behavior. Press OK.
* Drag girl_gr to your working area from Library (ctrl+L).
* Select girl_gr and choose Alpha 0% from color list box in your property window.
* Insert Keyframe (F6) into the 5th frame.
* Remaining on the 5th frame, Select girl_gr and choose Alpha 99% from color list box in your property window.
* Now select 1st frame, choose Motion Tween from Tween list box in your property window.
* Insert Keyframe into 15th frame and later to 20th frame.
* Remaining on the 20th frame, Select girl_gr and choose Alpha 0% from color list box in your property window.
* Select 15th frame, choose Motion Tween from Tween list box in your property window.
* Insert a new layer above this layer, call it "Layer 2".
* Select frame 1 of Layer 2 and draw a borderless square or rectangle depending on the type of ripple effect you want.
In the above demonstration, I have used rectangle with 15 pix as its height.
* Place this vector wherever you want the ripple to begin. Make sure that the vector belongs only to layer 2.
* Insert Keyframe into the 20th frame of Layer 2.
* Place the vector wherever you want the ripple to end or ebb.
In the above demonstration, I have placed it right at the bottom and reduced the height to 5 pix.
* Select 1st frame, choose Shape Tween from Tween list box in your property window.
* Right click on Layer 2 and select Mask.
* Save (ctrl+S). Make it a habit to save your work after each step you do.

Insert Ripple Movie Clip onto Scene 1

1. Now go back to Scene 1.
2. Insert a new layer above bg layer and call it ripple1.
3. Insert new Keyframe (F6) into the 10th frame of ripple1 layer.
4. With 10th frame of ripple1 layer selected, Drag ripple_mc movie clip onto the working area. Place it appropriate to girl_gr. Make sure that this movie clip is placed exactly where you had placed your square or rectangular vector in ripple_mc Movie clip.
5. Insert frame (F5) into the 30th frame of ripple1 layer. This is just to make sure that the ripple _mc runs only for 20 frame.
6. Insert another new layer above ripple1 layer and call it ripple2
7. Insert Keyframe into the 20th frame of ripple2 layer.
8. With 20th frame of ripple2 layer selected, Drag ripple_mc movie clip onto the working area. Place it appropriate to girl_gr just the way you did in step 4.
9. Insert frame (F5) into the 40th frame of ripple1 layer. This is just to make sure that the ripple _mc runs only for 20 frame.
10. Insert frame (F5) into the 40th frame of bg layer.

Here you go!! Your movie is ready. Press Ctrl+Enter to view your movie. Wasn't it simple. download fla

Source
<!--

You turn on your computer and Windows stays at the splash screen and does not boot up. What could be the cause? There are quite a few issues that would not allow Windows to boot. In this article we will examine those issues and give you tips on how to determine what is wrong.

The first thing you need to consider is when was the last time your computer booted into windows normally? What were you doing? Did you download anything? These are all factors to determine when the problem occurred and why. Sometimes things just happen and hardware can malfunction from one minute to the next. Since we are dealing with electronic components they don't need an excuse to stop working.

The first step to take when determining what is wrong is to try and boot into safe mode. If your computer will boot into safe mode than most likely you have a hardware conflict or bad board. If you installed an add on board or changed any hardware recently this would be a good place to start.

Before you start removing boards you should go into device manager while in safe mode. Click start/control panel/system/hardware/device manager if your running XP. Check to see you have any conflicts or splats. If you do remove them and try to boot into normal mode. Many times this will fix the problem. If it boots normally than the problem is solved. If you see nothing abnormal in device manager than you can try reverting back to a restore point that you know your computer was working normally. Sometimes doing a restore will solve many problems that have occurred.

If you still cannot boot into normal mode than you will need to remove boards one at a time and booting after each time. If at any time you boot normally than you have found your culprit. Don't rule out mice and keyboards they can also cause computers not to boot properly. The best way to rule them out is to unplug them and than try to boot.

What if your computer will not boot in normal mode or safe mode but just stays at the splash screen. This is normally not a hardware problem but Windows system files somehow has been corrupted. You could have downloaded something that had a virus in it. Windows will not boot if its main files where damaged or corrupted. Under this type of conditions you will have to reload your computer. You try a repair before actually wiping out your drive. If you are able to do this with no errors and the system runs fine than you good to go. Many times however Windows needs a fresh install.

A friend recently had this happen to her when she downloaded something from a website. She picked up a Trojan which damaged her system files and her computer had to be reloaded the repair would not fix it. This can happen to anyone when they are not careful online. Its always best to backup important data in case this ever happens to you.

These tips should help you if you ever have a problem where your system will not boot into Windows normally.
<!--

It's important, I think, to begin with a good b&w. There are a lot of ways to convert a color image to black and white but I get the best results with a technique created by Greg Gorman (PDF, html).

The image you choose for this tutorial should not be mostly black as the texture (as described in this tutorial) doesn't show up on black. Other than that, there are no requirements. There is, however, a suggestion: save your image in a format that will preserve its quality. As a rule, you should never save working files in JPEG format. Every time you save your image as a JPEG it loses image quality. You can save your working file(s) in Photoshop (psd) format but I prefer to save them as TIFF files with no compression.

Note: This is part of a Photoshop tutorial intended to be viewed as a set.

<!--

This is a very common problem because of the complexity of modern networks and the Internet itself. Just about anything can prevent you from accessing your desktop remotely: a firewall securing your LAN, an Internet provider blocking everything except Web sites, or any of the numerous reasons that exist in different segments of the Internet. These are all important and valid causes of connection problems, but the number one reason is much simpler and has nothing to do with the complexity of the Internet.

Depending on the Internet provider, your home computer can get a different Internet address every once in a while. This type of addresses is referred as 'dynamic', and is a common practice among practically all Internet access providers, except if you pay extra for a 'static', thus permanent, address. But even if you secure a permanent IP address for your PC, the firewalls will still stand in the way of establishing a successful connection between your PC and your location while on the go.

Anyplace Control by http://www.anyplace-control.com offers a revolutionary new approach to bypassing all the obstacles and remotely controlling your PC from anywhere in the world. Leave your heavy desktop computer at home while you are traveling! No need to carry even a notebook! Gain immediate control over your home PC desktop and its files while on the go with Anyplace Control!

Accessing your PC remotely works in a few very simple steps and does not require complex setup or expert network configuration whatsoever. You simply create an Internet account with Anyplace Control, and assign a name to your PC. When you need to access your computer from a remote location, you simply enter your PC name into the small and lightweight program, and Anyplace Control manages the rest. No need to configure network settings on the remote computer, and no need to worry about the firewalls and other obstacles!

With Anyplace Control you can see remote desktop and control your PC with keyboard and mouse as if you were there, or use Drag and Drop operation to copy files between your local and remote computers. Anyplace Control uses state of the art encryption and latest security approaches to protect your home PC from remote attacks. Finally, Anyplace Control saves your network bandwidth by consuming minimum traffic, allowing the fastest response times even on slower connections.

While travelling, especially to developing countries, you may find that their computers are not the same state-of-the-art computers you are used to see at home. Internet cafes may have old, slow PCs running operating systems as old as Windows 95. If you were using Microsoft Remote Desktop application to access your computer, you’d be out of luck!

Anyplace Control does not use Microsoft Remote Desktop, and hence is compatible with all Windows systems, not just those supporting the Remote Desktop Technology. You can run Anyplace Control on Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP, 2003 Server, and Vista.

Get ready for your next trip! Download your free trial version of Anyplace Control now from http://www.anyplace-control.com/, and access your PC remotely from anywhere in the world!
<!--

On the low end, one could use a simple wire to connect a phone handset with a tape recorder. An office with multiple phone lines would need expensive solutions that integrate a PBX with call recording. PBXpress www.callcorder.com is a great example of this approach, providing effective simultaneous recording of analog and digital (VoIP) telephone conversations over multiple lines.

But what if you only need to tap certain conversations once in a while? Purchasing expensive hardware is not nearly cost-effective in this case. Using a tape recorder is always an option, but it does not give you the convenience of digital, its user-friendly instant navigation and transparent search.

Using a computer to handle the recording is perfect for the purpose. Surprisingly, you might already have the necessary equipment to start recording phone conversations immediately. A simple voice modem is the only hardware you need. It is fully capable and sufficient to record your phone conversations. Have a close look at your modem. If it is marked "Voice" or "Data/Fax/Voice", you can use this modem for tapping. If, however, it is labeled as "Data/Fax" or "Fax Modem", then most probably your modem does not support the necessary voice features, and therefore it won't be able to record.

Having a voice modem alone is not enough to record calls. You need call recording software to complement your modem. The software would control your modem, record and store conversations on your hard disk. In the past, modem manufacturers used to bundle such software with their modems, but this is not the case today. Currently, you are on your own if you need software that can record your calls.

Call Corder (www.callcorder.com) by Pingram Software is one of such products. Its purpose is recording telephone conversations, compressing them, and storing in Windows compatible sound files that can be played back with Windows Media Player, Winamp, or any other music player.

Call Corder supports most brands of modemd. If it can't find an exact match for your hardware, it defaults to the closest generic device. If you are recording an incoming call, Call Corder will log Caller ID information provided by your modem. This usually includes caller's name and number. In order to receive this call information, you have to subscribe to the Caller ID service offered by your phone company. If you do not have Caller ID, you can always fill in the caller data by hand.

Make marks and memos about the conversation while you're recording or when you're finished. You can conveniently search for a particular call by typing any word or phrase that's in the call's memo, and Call Corder will automatically show you all conversations containing this information. Of course, you can also search by the telephone number or the name of the caller.

Try Call Corder free for 30 days to ensure that your modem is compatible! Download your free evaluation copy from www.callcorder.com
<!--

Some of them are completely simple to do, and predictable, but the others would want you to certainly put in some efforts. Here is a brief analysis of dissimilar PC speed up techniques and what effects they will actually have on your computer:

(i) Increasing RAM. Many people, when their computers become slow, update their random access memories. This is where the impermanent files are placed by programs that run on the computer. Increasing RAM does show a quantitative increase in your PC's performance. But there are chances that this pepped up speed will not last for a long time. Within a couple of months, your computer could again become slow. The reason is that, the programs that will be writing on your RAM will continue to write new files. There are glitches in many programs that do not allow the old files to be deleted when new ones are written. Consequently, the new RAM will also soon be cluttered with needless files. Increasing RAM is needed for updating your computer, but it won't work for speeding up your PC for the long term.

(ii) Deleting programs from the computer. You can get a short spurt of additional speed on your PC by deleting some of the programs that are utilizing a great deal of space. You can easily delete programs from your computer's hard disk using the options in the Control Panel. But the problem is, most programs will not be deleted completely. Temporary files will need to be removed manually. In short, every program leaves some traces on the computer's memory.

(iii) Deleting temporary files. You can delete temporary files from the computer's program folders. This will free up some resources and speed up PC. But remember that you will not be able to find and remove each temp file that exists. Also, it will be easier to remove the temp Internet usage files, but much more difficult to remove temp program files.

(iv) Formatting PC. Many people use this PC speed up method as the last resort. This is when nothing else works. So many files are written on the computer that they just add up to the space. There may also be viruses come from the Internet, that automatically download files from the Internet and install them on the hard disk. If that happens, that can interminably slow down your PC. The result is to format the PC and make it like brand new once again. But you must bear in mind that formatting the PC will take a toll on its resources and also have you lose some data if it is present on the drive you are formatting.

(v) Memory optimization. This is by far the best PC speed up technique available today. This is a software tool that can be installed on your PC and can be kept running. It will work continuously at deleting the temporary files that accumulate on your PC and free up good space for new files to come in. As a result, your PC gets cleaned up, without needing to resort to drastic damaging techniques like formatting.

Sean is an expert on computer hardware and he usually discusses about PC Speed Up methods. He has also written some professional articles on the subject, which you can read about at the following link: www.memoryoptimizerreview.com
<!--

When you surf around the Internet, are you bombarded with pop-up windows? Does your computer freeze up or turn off for no apparent reason?

Before you decide to throw your monitor out of the nearest window, there may be a number of solutions to fix these problems that won't require you having a degree in computer technology.

There are two primary ways to maintain your computer's performance, and the maintenance should be done once a week or more. First, acquire and use software that will help you clean and protect your computer, and second, know how to use the programs already in your computer to keep it's engines running smooth.

SOFTWARE

The software solutions below will not cost you any money, nor will they take you much of your time to download, understand, and implement:

1) Virus Protection - Avast AntiVirus is an excellent free program to guard yourself against Trojans, Worms, and Hacks.

2) Spyware - AdAware and Spybot are terrific free programs for eliminating pop-ups and other wares from your computer. It is recommended that you use them both, as one may find problems that the other may not ... a great one-two punch to protect yourself.

3) Registry Cleaners - WinASO Registry Optimizer is a great program for repairing your computer registry. The free version allows you to clean or repair ten items at a time, so you will have to re-run it numerous times if you have many problems.

4) Internet Speed - If you use dial-up, or have a computer the size of a calculator, you may wish to use RamBooster to help give you the best speed possible for the limitations you have.

Go to http://www.download.com for these and other great resources.

PROGRAMS

Now that you've taken out the garbage, you should keep the place neat and tidy by using the programs already existing in your computer. Once again, you should do this once a week:

1) Clear your Internet History

2) Defrag your Computer

3) Use a Firewall

You can find the programs that will do this for you by looking in the System Tools or Security Center sections of your computer.

Another option for those of you who've got smoke billowing out of the back of your computer, with no seemingly useful solution in sight; you may wish to look at the System Restore feature that your computer may have. This allows you to revert back to a state when your computer actually worked well. It doesn't work all the time, by it is an option ... and not an end all be all ... use it only when absolutely necessary.
Austin Culley is the Chief Operating Officer for Oil-Net.Com Inc.
http://www.oil-net.com

Source: http://www.websition.com/
<!--

Computer data backups are kind of like flossing your teeth and eating low-fat, high-fiber foods... everyone knows what they’re supposed to do... but how many REALLY do these things religiously?!?

Unfortunately when it comes to your computer data backups however, complacency can be very dangerous. Of course, it’s always a good idea to have a local computer service company that you can rely on for advice on selecting and maintaining your computer data backups. But, unless you’re prepared to put a full-time PC support person on your company’s payroll, it’s really important that you get some basic understanding of the major issues with computer data backups.

So here’s a compilation of some really crucial tips on computer data backups that I’ve put together, after nearly 15 years of helping small businesses protect their valuable computer data files.

Test your computer data backups regularly and monitor their log files.

To be effective, computer data backups must be highly automated to ensure that jobs are launched consistently and correctly, but your computer data backup system also needs to be watched over diligently to make sure it continues to function reliably.

Unfortunately, monitoring the computer data backup system generally isn’t a priority until something goes wrong. By then it’s too late. Like the article title says, "Test Now or Cry Later!"

People have a strong tendency with a computer data backup system to set it and forget it. Automation clearly has many benefits, but a totally hands-off approach can be very dangerous if no one is overseeing your computer data backup process.

Test and Then Test Again: VERY Important with Computer Data Backup Systems

With any newly installed computer data backup system, don't assume everything works correctly right out of the box. Even more important, don't take for granted that your backup system will continue working indefinitely. You need periodically to restore some folders and files from your backup media to validate that your computer data backup system still works.

If your automated computer data backup routine is configured to include a verify run with each backup job, testing a sample restore job monthly should be adequate. However, if you have an extremely low tolerance for risk, you may want to simulate a sample restore job once a week.

The Hazard of Moving Parts and Open Design with Computer Backup Systems

Why do you need to take these precautions if you’re purchasing a reliable, business-class computer data backup system to start with? Typically, a tape drive or other backup device is one of the few components in a PC or server that still have moving parts.

As a result, it’s more prone to mechanical failure. In addition, because a backup device generally is open, as opposed to the sealed design of a hard drive, it’s easy for the inside of the computer data backup system device to attract a significant dust buildup in a relatively short period of time.

Sample Restore Jobs and Cleaning Tape Heads of Computer Data Backup Systems

Testing a tape for a sample restore job is also a great time to clean the heads of the backup drive if your backup system requires this kind of maintenance.

Restoring a few hundred megabytes (MB) of data to a scratch directory and running a head-cleaning tape should take no more than 15 to 30 minutes.

When running a test restore job, always restore the data to an alternate server folder path, so as not to disrupt the use of any shared folders.

Building a Computer System Backup and Restore Procedure Checklist In times of crisis, the most crucial issue becomes how quickly you can get the data back onto your system, undamaged. So, as you build your computer data backup system, be sure to document your test procedures into handy checklists.

This documentation also can be great for cross-training and crucial for avoiding panic during an emergency. Be sure you have a hard copy of this documentation next to your system and stored off-site with your backup media.

Watching the Log Files of Your Computer Data Backup System

In addition to running test restore jobs, you must inspect your computer data backup system log files daily. When the backup system is first installed, take time to get familiar with the way log files look when everything is working. This way, if something goes awry, you’ll be better prepared to pinpoint the nature of the problem immediately.

As network operating system (NOS) suites and backup software have become more sophisticated, it’s now possible to monitor backup system log files remotely and more proactively. In most cases, the backup system log files are just plain text (.txt) files.

Many third-party tools and utilities, as well as those included with Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server (SBS) and Microsoft BackOffice Server, can automatically e- mail or fax a backup system log file at a preconfigured time.

Automatically and Remotely Monitoring Tape Backup Log Files

Many computer consultants have their small business clients’ log files automatically e-mailed to them daily, so the consultants proactively can watch out for potential problems with the computer data backup system.

However, don’t think this proactive monitoring is limited to professional consultants. If your company has one or more branch offices you support from a centralized location, you also can use a similar method to monitor backup system health in remote locations.

For greater flexibility, you can set up an e-mail alias so the computer data backup system log file automatically is sent to you, your second-in-command and perhaps an external computer consultant... so you are all kept in the loop. Also, this way, monitoring continues even when you’re out of the office or on vacation.

The Bottom Line

If your small business depends greatly on its computer systems, backing up your data is not optional... and it is not something that can be casually brushed to the back burner.

Use the computer data backup tips in the articles to help you become a more IT-aware small business owner. And remember, when it comes to computer data backups, "Test Now or Cry Later". The choice is yours.

© MMI-MMV, PCSupportTips.com, All Worldwide Rights Reserved.
About the Author
Joshua Feinberg is a 15-year veteran computer consultant, an internationally recognized expert on small business computer consulting.

He has appeared in dozens of business and IT trade publications including American Express OPEN Platinum Ventures, Entrepreneur, Inc, SCORE, Small Business Computing, and USA Today. Watch us
create a rollover animation in ImageReady by exporting
the artwork on layers from Illustrator. The transparent
background is kept intact, and special effects such as
feathering are also exported without changes. Follow
this tip to see how easy it is to create a rollover
animation once you get used to exporting artwork on
layers.

1. Create the elements of a rollover animation, and
place them on separate layers.
Create your artwork, making sure that each element
you want to animate is on a different layer. In this
example, we created the dog stamp artwork on one
layer. Then we drew a rounded rectangle on a separate
layer, painted it yellow, and feathered the edges to create
a halo effect. (To feather an edge, choose Effect >
Stylize > Feather, and enter a value for the feather
radius. We chose a radius of 20 points.) Finally, we
created a simple red rectangle that we'll use as a
background and placed it on its own layer.
The yellow rectangle will be used as our rollover effect.
We placed the yellow feathered rectangle between the
artwork and the background to provide the effect of
highlighting the artwork when we turn it on and off in
our rollover.

2. Make sure the artwork is transparent to the
background.
Choose View>Show Transparency Grid. In this closeup,
you can see that the feathered part of our yellow
rounded rectangle fades to transparency at the farthest
edge. This is necessary to ensure that the rollover state
will appear correctly in our rollover animation.
Similarly, you can see that the background between the
scalloped edges of the stamp edge is also transparent.
3. Export the artwork to Photoshop format.
Choose File > Export, and then choose Photoshop 5
from the Save As Type (Windows) or Format (Mac OS)
menu. In the Photoshop Options dialog box, make sure
the Color Model is set to RGB. Also make sure the
Screen Resolution (72 dpi) and Write Layers options are
selected, and then click OK.

4. Open the new file in Photoshop or ImageReady.
Start the Photoshop or ImageReady application, and
open the file you saved. Since we are creating animated
rollovers, we used ImageReady. Open the Layers palette
to view the artwork.
Notice that the layers in ImageReady are identical to the
layers in the original Illustrator file. The edges of the
feathered yellow rectangle and the stamp artwork
retained their transparency when we exported the
image to ImageReady.

5. Set up the animated rollover.
In the Layers palette, hide the yellow rectangle by
clicking the eye icon for that layer. Choose Window >
Show Rollover to display the rollover palette, select New
State from the Rollover palette menu, and choose Over
to select the mouseover rollover state. Then click the eye
icon in the Layers palette again to show the yellow
rectangle. The yellow rectangle will appear when you
roll the mouse over the dog stamp.
Use these techniques to create transparent artwork in
Illustrator, and then to export the artwork into
Photoshop. It’s an easy way to create a wide range of
special effects and animations.

Adobe, the Adobe logo, Illustrator, and Photoshop are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Adobe Systems Incorporated in the United
States and/or other countries. By taking advantage of the brushes' ability to
scatter patterns at adjustable intervals, you can quickly
generate animation frames that proceed with seemingly
random movements. Follow along as we use scatter
brushes in conjunction with the Blend commands and
Release to Layers command to create a GIF animation
of dancing flowers. To complete this tip, you need
Adobe® Photoshop® 5.5 or higher.

1. Paint a path with a scatter brush.
Open a new Illustrator artwork window in RGB color
mode. Select the spiral tool in the toolbox in Illustrator,
and drag to draw a spiral. Set the fill and stroke of the
spiral to None. Then apply a scatter brush to the spiral
path. (We chose Window > Brush Libraries > Floral
Sample, and applied the Violets brush.)
Scatter brushes spread copies of an object along the
selected path.

2. Copy the brushed path, and adjust Scatter Brush
Options.
With the brushed path selected, choose Edit > Copy,
and then choose Edit > Paste in Front to duplicate the
brushed path. In the Brushes palette, double-click the
active scatter brush to display the Scatter Brush Options
palette. Drag the sliders to adjust options, click OK, and
then click Apply to Strokes to apply the new options to
the duplicate brushed path.
By adjusting scatter options for the duplicate path, you
alter the distribution of scatter objects along the path.
The two brushed paths represent the starting and
ending frames of your animation.

3. Blend the brushed paths.
Choose Edit > Select All to select both brushed paths,
and choose Object > Blend > Blend Options. For
Spacing, choose Specified Steps, enter the number of
intermediate steps you want in the blend, and click OK.
(We used 5 steps.) Then choose Object > Blend > Make.
The Blend commands let you automatically create
intermediate steps that blend the positions, shapes, and
colors of a starting object and an ending object.

4. Release the blend to separate layers.
In the Layers palette, select the blend you just created.
(You may need to expand layers to see the blend.) Then
choose Release to Layers from the Layers palette menu.
The Release to Layers command places each object in a
group or layer on its own separate layer. In this case,
each step in the blend is released to a separate layer.

5. Export the file to Photoshop 5 format.
Choose File > Export, choose Photoshop 5 for the file
format, and click Save (Windows) or Export (Mac OS).
In the Photoshop Options dialog box, make sure the
color mode is set to RGB. For Resolution, select Screen
(72 dpi). Select Write Layers and Write Nested Layers,
and click OK to the alert message that appears. Then
click OK to export the file.
When exporting an Illustrator file to Photoshop 5
format, you can choose between flattening or
preserving layers in the file. Because you are preparing
your file for animation, you want layers to be preserved.

6. Create animation frames in Adobe
ImageReady®.
Start Adobe ImageReady, and open the Photoshop file
that you just exported. Choose Window > Show
Animation, and choose Make Frames From Layers from
the Animation palette menu.
The ImageReady Animation palette makes it easy to
create and customize frames of a GIF animation. Here,
you converted the layers in your file automatically to
animation frames. You can use the Animation palette to
set further options for your animation, such as delay
time between frames and looping.

7. Optimize and preview the animation.
In the Optimize palette, choose GIF from the file format
menu, and choose other options to optimize the
animated file. Then preview your finished animation by
choosing your Web browser from the File > Preview in
menu.
<!--

So if you like a good design challenge try your hand at this one.

All you need to add a Favicon to your site is a Windows Icon (.ico) file called favicon.ico that you upload to the main directory of your website.

Download The Plugin
You'll need the Windows Icon (ICO) file format Photoshop Plugin to export to the .ico file format. You can download the plugin from Telegraphics. The plugin reads and writes ICO files in 1, 4 and 8-bit Indexed and 24-bit RGB modes, and also reads and writes 32-bit "XP" icons (with 8-bit alpha channel). Make sure to install the plugin before you begin this tutorial.

read the last entry
<!--

We'll make a quick
comparison of the two to help you understand which is
more appropriate for your artwork. It boils down to the
kind of artwork you're preparing and what you intend
to do with it.
Vector vs. Bitmap
Vector graphics
are made up of shapes defined by mathematical
expressions. A vector graphic has crisp, smooth
lines and is resolution-independent—that is, it can be
rescaled to any size or displayed onscreen at any
resolution without losing the clarity of its lines.
Bitmap images
(also called raster images) are based on a
grid of small squares known as pixels. Each pixel has a
specific location and color value assigned to it. Bitmap
graphics can represent subtle gradations of shade and
color. A disadvantage of bitmaps is that they represent a
fixed number of pixels, so they can appear jagged and
lose detail if they are rescaled or displayed onscreen at a
higher resolution.
Which graphic type should you use?
So which type do you need? It depends on what you're
trying to do:
• Vector graphics are crisp at any size or resolution, so
they're well suited for line art, type (especially small
type), and graphics that may need to be scaled, such as
logos and maps. Vectors also produce more compact
files than bitmaps, so they're quicker to open or
download on systems with limited memory or lowbandwidth
connections.
• Bitmap images can represent rich and subtle gradations
of shade and color, so they're appropriate for
artwork created in painting programs and for
continuous-tone images such as photographs. You
might also want to convert vectors to bitmaps to apply
distortion filters or other special effects to them.
Drawing programs such as Adobe® Illustrator® are
ideal for creating vector graphics. Bitmap images are
generally created using graphics programs such as
Adobe Photoshop®. Both Illustrator and Photoshop
can rasterize your vectors into bitmaps.
What's next for graphics on the Web?
Most graphics on the Web today are in bitmap formats,
such as GIF, JPEG, and PNG. Up until now, the only
vector formats practical for the Web have been proprietary
standards, such as Flash (SWF)—but a new openstandard
format called Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG)
is emerging.
SVG will let Web developers use high-quality vector
fonts and graphics that look great at any size or
resolution and that incorporate sophisticated elements
such as gradients and animation. Imagine being able to
zoom into a map on the Web! And SVG vector descriptions
are embedded in the HTML code, so developers
can put interactivity, such as rollover highlighting, right
in the artwork.
Illustrator 9.0 exports to both SVG and SWF vector
formats. You can even define SVG interactivity for your
artwork within Illustrator.
<!--

Generating the Random Position

First we need to generate a Random Position, we can generate a position
pretty easily by using

newpos = function () {
ranx = Math.random ()*250)
rany = Math.random ()*250)
}

this.onEnterFrame = function() {
newpos ()
this._x = ranx;
this._y = rany;
}

In the function newpos () Math.Random () generates a random decimal number
between 0 and 1, it is then multiplied by 250 which is the width of the movie.
So in effect ranx and rany the random positions will be set to value

The this.onEnterFrame part calls the function newpos()
continuously and sets the position of the movieclip to a random value

2. Gradually moving towards the random position

acceleration = 10
newpos = function () {
ranx = Math.round((Math.random ()*250));
rany = Math.round ((Math.random ()*250));
}
newpos();
this.onEnterFrame = function() {
this._x += ((ranx-this._x)/ acceleration);
this._y += ((rany-this._y)/ acceleration);
};

newpos() has been moved outside the onEnterFrame event because we
want to move the movieclips gradually not every time the movieclip enters a
frame.

this._y += ((rany-this._y)/ acceleration);
is a shorthand way of
saying
this._y = ((rany-this._y)/ acceleration) + this._y;

The code keeps adding a portion of the difference between the current movie
clip position and the randomly generated position, on enterframe.

This way the the _x and _y values of the movieclip are gradually increased to
match the the values of the randomly generated position.

3. Repeating the process

The process needs keep repeating so we add the following code.

acceleration = 10
newpos = function () {
ranx = Math.round((Math.random ()*250));
rany = Math.round ((Math.random ()*250));
}
newpos();
this.onEnterFrame = function() {
this._x += ((ranx-this._x)/acceleration);
this._y += ((rany-this._y)/acceleration);
if (Math.round(this._x) == ranx || Math.round(this._y) == rany) {
newpos();
}
};

This way once the _x value of the movieclip equals the random position. The
newpos() function is called again to generate a new set of random x and y values
and the whole process repeats itself over and over again.

Download
Source

Source http://www.tutorio.com
<!--

All film and video is created through a series of pictures spread over time. A camera takes up to 25 pictures to create one second of movement. That means that for some types of animation you would have to create and film 25 drawings for one second
of movement. Don't despair or give up yet! You can create animation without it being so complicated or time consuming.
The first animation and filmmaking exercises in these notes don't even need a camera - there are other ways of creating the illusion of movement.
<!--

<!--

Create a new document in Photoshop, 250×150 in size with a white foreground.
2. Create a new layer. Add a rounded rectangle via the Rounded Rectangle Tool (U) onto the document with these shape settings. After the shape is placed on the document, take out your Move Tool (V) and align it to the bottom-left corner of the document.
3. Black is definitely not a good color for a Web2.0 button, so we’re going to add a color overlay and stroke to the button. You’ll notice why the stroke is the same color in the next couple of steps.
4. Take out your Move Tool (V). Hit the up and left arrow on your keyboard 3 times each. This will allow the bottom-right side of the border to be visible in the document.
5. Take out your Move Tool (V). Hit the up and left arrow on your keyboard 3 times each. This will allow the bottom-right side of the border to be visible in the document.
6. CTRL + Left Mouse click the button layer icon to make a selection out of the button.Take out your Gradient Tool (G). On a new layer, click and drag your mouse from the top-right section of the document all the way to the bottom-left side of it. If you’re having trouble with the gradient, follow this gradient guide. You should now have a nice glossy button base!

Part 2 - Adding the Badge
1. Change your foreground color to #FF7E00 (bright orange color.) Next, take out the Custom Shape Tool (U). Select this badge shape, and then apply these settings in the properties toolbar. Once all the settings are in place, all you have to do is click and drag the badge to the top-left section of the document.
2. Create a new layer. CTRL + Left Mouse click the badge layer to make a selection of it, just like we did to the button in Step 5. Take out your Gradient Tool (G) once more. This time instead of a linear white to transparent gradient, select a radial white to transparent gradient. Now click and drag your mouse from the center of the the badge to below the badge.
3. Change the layer’s blending mode from Normal to Soft Light.
4. Create another new layer. On this one, we’ll be dragging the radial gradient from the top side of the badge to the center of the badge.
5. Change your foreground color to a green color (I used #8EE122.) Next, take out the Horizontal Type Tool (T) and type out something to go with your badge. I simply put “2.0″ in my text layer. Use the font Arial, with a 24pt size and Strong anti-aliasing. Change the opacity of the text layer to 75%.

Source : http://upupmedia.com/?page_id=44
<!--

With the new painting engine, you can create imagery that looks as if it was painted using natural media. Follow along and learn a few of the ways you can customize the brush tool.

1. Choose a brush tip.
Select the brush tool and choose Window > Brushes to
display the Brushes palette. Select Brush Tip Shape on
the left side of the palette, and then select a brush tip.
When you’re exploring the options in the Brushes
palette, it’s best to choose a simple tip, such as Hard
Round or Soft Round, so you can clearly see the effects.

2. Fade the size of the brush.
Select Shape Dynamics on the left side of the Brushes
palette. (Click on the words, rather than the check box,
to view the Shape Dynamics options.) Choose Fade
from the Control pop-up menu below the Size Jitter
slider; then enter a number of steps. The more steps you
enter, the longer the stroke. You can view results at the
bottom of the Brushes palette.
Now try adjusting some of the other shape dynamics.
Drag the sliders to add randomness to brush elements.
(At 0%, an element does not change over the course of
a stroke; at 100%, an element has the maximum
amount of randomness.) Choose options from the
Control pop-up menus to control the variance of brush
elements.

3. Add scattering to the brush.
Select Scattering on the left side of the Brushes palette.
The options in this section of the Brushes palette
determine the number and placement of marks in a
stroke. Adjust the Scatter percentage to specify the
maximum percentage of scattering in a stroke. Adjust
the Count value to specify the number of brush marks
applied at each spacing interval. Adjust the Count Jitter
percentage to add variance to the number of brush
marks applied at each spacing interval.

4. Add texture to the brush.
Select Texture on the left side of the Brushes palette.
The options in this section of the Brushes palette let you
make strokes look like they are painted on textured
canvas. First, click on the pattern sample at the top of
the palette, and choose a pattern from the pop-up
palette. (You can load additional patterns by clicking
the triangle at the top right of the pop-up palette, and
choosing a pattern library from the bottom of the
palette menu.) Use the Scale slider to adjust the size of
the pattern.
Now you’re ready to use your brush.

5. Paint in the image.
Choose a color and paint freehand in an image.
Alternately, you can apply the brush stroke to a path.
(For more information on creating paths and using the
Paths palette, see Photoshop online Help.) We used a
work path to create brush strokes on a new layer.
We then used the same method to create additional
fireworks in different colors.

6. Experiment with other brush options.
Now that you know the basics, you can experiment
with some of the other brush options. For example,
we added color dynamics to our brush and painted
freehand to create particle streaks falling from the
fireworks.
<!--

Arrange the layers in Illustrator.
Open the Illustrator file you want to use for the
animation, and arrange the layers. Make sure the layers
are in the order in which you want to display them as
animation frames. The bottom layer becomes the first
frame in the animation when you convert the layers to
frames in ImageReady. You can also rearrange the layers
after opening the file in ImageReady if necessary.

2. Export the file to Photoshop.
Choose File > Export. Choose Photoshop 5 for Format,
and save the file. In the Photoshop Options dialog box,
select RGB for Color Model and Screen (72 dpi) for
Resolution. Select Anti-Alias to smooth edges in the
exported image, and select Write Layers and Include
Hidden Layers to preserve layers. Click OK and exit
Illustrator.

3. Open the file in ImageReady.
Launch ImageReady, and open the file you saved in
Photoshop format. Notice that the layers are preserved
in the ImageReady layers palette.
Exporting a multilayer file from Illustrator in
Photoshop format may cause an additional background
layer to be added to the file. If an empty layer labeled
"Background" appears as the bottom layer in the
ImageReady Layers palette, select the layer and click the
Trash button in the palette to delete it.

4. Create the animation.
In the ImageReady Animation palette, choose Make
Frames From Layers from the palette menu. Each layer
of the Illustrator file becomes a frame in sequence and
is displayed in the Animation palette.
You can now preview and add, delete, or modify frames
in the animation, as well as set playback options as
needed.

5. Optimize and save.
Choose Optimize Animation from the Animation
palette menu, select Bounding Box and Redundant
Pixel Removal, and click OK. Right-click (Windows) or
Control-click (Mac OS) the frame thumbnail, and then
choose Automatic to preserve frames that include
transparency.
In the Optimize palette, select GIF from the file format
menu, and choose other options to optimize the file for
display on the Web. Then choose File > Save Optimized.
<!--

AlterCast greatly extends
the power of Photoshop by linking key image parameters in
Photoshop PSD files (such as text content, layer visibility, and image
dimensions) to elements residing in a database or content management
system. This linkage enables Web publishers and other graphics
professionals to automatically generate multiple and varied iterations
of PSD files using templates developed with Photoshop commands and
executed by AlterCast programming scripts.
In a Web imaging workflow, Web designers create pages for a site just
as they normally would. The difference: Using ImageReady 7.0, Web
designers assign variables to those pages that, through programming
scripts created by a developer, can be dynamically updated by Alter-
Cast. For example, by integrating AlterCast into a Web imaging workflow,
headlines or price changes can be entered directly into a database.
A batch-processing script would then locate the original PSD
image file containing that text; automatically update the text while
retaining effects such as drop shadows; save a new version of the
graphic in GIF format with a user-defined file name and destination;
and post the updated graphic to the Web. Instead of making those
changes manually, the designer simply submits the new pricing information
into the database; AlterCast handles the rest.
To speed common production tasks, AlterCast can automatically
generate every file version a company needs whenever a new image is
created—from online thumbnails to low-resolution monochrome
images, for mobile devices to high-resolution printer files. AlterCast
delivers virtually any image in any common format to virtually any
online or print device. Image modifications and enhancements such as
resizing, color mode conversions and text replacement are made
possible by adding Photoshop imaging controls and Adobe font
technology to an enterprise-class server with industry-standard
interfaces.
By automating these processes, AlterCast frees designers and content
creators to concentrate on doing what they do best—building compelling,
visual Web page designs.
For more information about AlterCast, go to http://www.adobe.com/
products/altercast/. For an online trial of AlterCast, go to http://
altercast.netxposure.com.
The Brushes palette lets you preview brushes, such
as the Flowing Stars brush, as stroke thumbnails,
among other options.
<!--
